| Regarding the "Epic nerve-racking failure" post: My has now computer died. Well, mostly anyway. There was something seriously wrong with the graphics drivers, and when I tried to install new ones, it got worse. I mean, there were all sorts of trippy artifacts on the screen, random 1cm x 1cm squares would appear all over the screen, each showing a different 1cm x 1cm square elsewhere on the screen, crazy scanline shit or whatever, weird flashing colors - it was just bad. Half the time the Dell BIOS screen didn't appear, and when it did appear, half the time that was the only thing that would appear and the screen would just stay black afterward. If I somehow got to the login screen, I usually would make it to the desktop, but within an unknown amount of time (varied from like a minute to half an hour, one time it was fine for almost a whole day) the screen would start doing these crazy things, and half the time it would lock up, and the other half of the time the computer would reset. So this morning I bit the bullet and put in the restore disc. So I'm now on ground level again, just like I was a year and a half ago when I got this computer. *sigh* Luckily, I had uploaded most of my music collection to megaupload, so I've been slowly reclaiming that, and am currently waiting for a "Download limit expired" to go away. This is going to be a long process. My computer has been reborn. |
